CLASSIC CARS COME OUT OF THE GARAGE!

The biennial Castlecrag Community Fair is always something to look forward to.  On Sunday 20 October, from 10am – 3pm, it will sprawl out over the entire shopping village and beyond.

The Castlecrag Progress Association has organised the fair since 2000. There will be lots of animal attractions – an interactive farm-animal petting pen in the Quadrangle and at 1pm, a wildlife show in the nearby Cortile Reserve. Then there’s the giant inflatable playground and the raffle for a restaurant dinner for two…

Over 30 stalls have been booked by community organisations, artists, and local sellers.  A theme has emerged of sustainability, with a number of people selling their pre-loved clothes, books and household goods. The native plant stall is always popular, with free advice and with many of the plants being sold endemic to this area. The Workshop Art Centre (WAC), which supports many local artists, will be selling artworks and providing a hands-on art experience.  There will be a guided walk through Griffin walkways and reserves.  Northside Radio will be broadcasting live from the Fair.

An exciting new addition is a Classic Car Display, with a wide range of cars from the quirky to the exotic expected to line the western end of The Parapet.  One of the cars featured will be a 1962 Austin Healey 3000.  There’s the elegant Jaguars and Porches to the obscure TVR, Riley and Jensen Interceptor.

All this, and eclectic entertainment by a host of local musos, food from a Scout’s Sausage Sizzle and Village Eateries, and a marquee to sit, eat, drink and chat under – what better way to spend a Sunday in Spring!

CASTLECRAG FAIR ROAD CLOSURES

Please be aware that the Castlecrag Fair will take place on Sunday 20 October 2019. The upper Postern will be closed between Edinburgh Road and the Rampart and the Parapet will be closed between the Postern and 36 The Parapet for the Classic Car Display.  These cars will be parked along one side of the closed off section of The Parapet with the other side left clear for emergency access. The closed off section of the Parapet needs to be clear of resident cars by 7:00 am and the Classic Car display will conclude at 2pm.

Reserved parking will be allocated, in the eastern end of The Parapet, for residents whose access will be blocked by the road closure. Please review the map on the back of this note.

If you are leaving your premises by car during the event, please exit to Edinburgh Road via The Rampart, if you live in either The Postern or The Rampart, or via Parapet otherwise. Your co-operation is appreciated. The Postern will be re-opened by 5pm.

If you have any queries, please contact the Fair Coordinator, Lindy Batterham, email to info@castlecrag.org.au.
